Environmental protection has long been an important topic in Pays d'Oc. As early as 2009, a programme for sustainable development and social responsibility, the so-called "Vineyard In Progress" (VIP), was launched as part of the "Corporate Social Responsibility" (CSR) movement.
Inter Oc, the trade association for Pays d'Oc IGP wines, encouraged the adaptation of the ISO 26000 standard to the wine sector under the auspices of AFNOR. Since then, the ACX30-032 agreement has defined key practices for the wine sector in accordance with CSR guidelines.
While the former deals with environmental and social commitment measures - such as sustainable management, reduction of foreign substances, control of resources and reduction of packaging material - the latter deals with integrating the expectations of all parties involved, as well as with improvements in the workplace, fighting inequalities, strengthening education and enhancing the region.
In the meantime, the entire industry is strongly committed to the environment and society.
