Overview - Special fares UPS Surcharges - 2025Peak s urcharges only apply during the peak season, for example in the run-up to Christmas. They are based on the specifications for surcharges for additional handling (see below) and are subject to the fuel surcharge.
Please note that UPS has changed these specifications as of 1 October 2023: The surcharge will now apply to parcels weighing 25kg or more - previously the limit was 32kg. Important: This affects 18-pack boxes, among others.

An Additional Handling Charge will be applied for each package that requires special handling. This will be determined by UPS in its sole discretion, including but not limited to

A parcel is considered a "large parcel" if the total dimension exceeds 300 cm in length plus girth [girth = (2 x width) + (2 x height)], but is less than the maximum UPS dimension of 400 cm. Large parcels are subject to a minimum chargeable weight of 40kg. In addition, a surcharge is levied for large parcels.

Compare the actual weight with the volumetric weight. The larger of the two is the weight to be calculated and is used to calculate the rate. For consignments consisting of several parcels, add up the weight to be calculated for all parcels in the consignment.
Packages weighing more than 70 kg or exceeding 274 cm in length or 400 cm in length and girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] will not be accepted for shipping. However, shipments found in the UPS parcel system will be subject to a surcharge. For parcels whose combined length and circumference exceed 400 cm, the large parcel surcharge will also be charged.

A private delivery is a delivery to a residence, including a commercially used residence, which does not have an entrance accessible to the public.

Saturday delivery surcharges apply for UPS Express (commercial and private shipments) and for UPS Standard for commercial shipments.
UPS charges a surcharge for collection and delivery of shipments outside the regular UPS service areas (e.g. German islands). Depending on accessibility, they are categorised as remote (outlying areas) or hard-to-reach areas. Please visit www.ups.com to find out whether a surcharge is levied for such areas. To do this, go to "Shipping", click on "Calculate delivery time and costs" and then on "Zones and tariffs".
The surcharges for collection and delivery in outlying areas and areas that are difficult to access will be waived wein.plus–Premium members:

The address correction fee will be charged to the sender per parcel if an incorrect or incomplete address needs to be corrected.
